The investigation into allegations of mishandling the health crisis by the then prime minister, Édouard Philippe, and health ministers Agnès Buzyn and his successor Olivier Véran had been underway since July 2020.
At the end of November, according to Franceinfo, the court decided to close the investigation.
Philippe, Buzyn, and Véran were given the status of assisted witnesses, a more favorable status, which practically implies that the process will end with a ‘dismissed by the court’.
The Covid-19 pandemic left thousands of deaths in France, with harsh criticism of the government’s handling of the crisis, on issues such as the availability of masks and hospital beds.
