Chileans join the Marathon of Love for Cuba campaign

Santiago de Chile, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) In front of the monument to Salvador Allende, in the Plaza de la Constitución, the launch of the Marathon of Love for Cuba took place today in Chile, a worldwide campaign that will extend throughout 2025.

Members of the Solidarity Movement participated in this initiative, whose objective is to integrate workers, athletes, artists, intellectuals, youth, political parties, religious people and associations of all kinds to break the United States blockade against the island.

“The blockade has cost the Cuban people many hardships, a wonderful country that has made so many contributions to humanity, especially in the training of young people around the world,” Yanela García, from the organization of parents of graduates in the Caribbean nation, told Prensa Latina.

She recalled that her son is Mapuche, graduated in Cuba and today works in his community giving back to the people what he learned there.

Elizabeth Molina, from the same group, reported that there are 640 Chileans who graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and who practice medicine throughout the country.

“Cuba is going through difficult times today and requires the concrete solidarity of Chileans and that is why we are part of this campaign,” she said.

Defined as a race of resistance, this marathon will continue until December 30 of next year with the purpose of multiplying the actions for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade and removing Cuba from the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

The campaign takes on special relevance when a more aggressive phase of the United States is expected after the inauguration of President Donald Trump and his efforts to try to exterminate the Revolution, the solidarity movement pointed out.

Pedro Bronzic, spokesman for the Metropolitan Zone of the Movement, recalled the many occasions in which the largest of the Antilles has sent brigades to help victims of the earthquakes of 1960 and 2010 and its help in training professionals.

The campaign is promoted by the Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
