According to Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, 90 percent of public sector workers have received their grants, and pensioners are expected to start receiving them as of December 30.
The Guyanese Executive has registered 366,473 persons interested in the funds and plans to benefit next year those who were unable to register this time.
Jagdeo commented that the Finance Ministry is implementing a more efficient system for distributing the grant and involving the heads of several institutions in this task.
His remarks follow those of Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali, who pledged to ensure total transparency in allocating the funds, which come in addition to the payment of salaries and pensions.
