Hamas calls on UN to send observers to Gaza

Ramallah, Dec 29 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Hamas movement on Sunday condemned Israel's attacks on hospitals in the Gaza Strip and called on the United Nations to send observers to refute the Army's accusations about the use of these facilities for military purposes.

In a press release, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) denied statements by Israel’s Defense Forces, whose spokespersons affirm that the armed group used these centers as command posts to store weapons and give refuge to its militants.

The UN is responsible for “the ongoing attacks and the systematic destruction (…) of all medical facilities and hospitals” in the coastal enclave, the Islamist group noted.

As an example, Hamas mentioned the destruction and burning of the Kamal Adwan hospital, the last functioning medical facility in the northern zone of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas called on the UN to intervene urgently “to stop the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.”

In recent hours, numerous governments, human rights groups and institutions of the UN system condemned the attack on Kamal Adwan.

After besieging them for weeks, Israeli soldiers stormed the facility, arrested several people and expelled others, including workers, patients and their companions on Friday.
