Vietnam-Cuba ties moving forward, says Cuban ambassador

Hanoi, Dec 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban ambassador Rogelio Polanco stated that the special and close relations between Vietnam and Cuba are moving towards a new stage marked by comprehensive, effective, sustainable, and substantive cooperation.

In a meeting with embassy workers shortly after presenting his credentials to President Luong Cuong, Polanco highlighted the important agreements signed during the state visit to Havana last September by the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, which launched bilateral ties into a qualitatively higher phase.

Polanco said that in the conversations held with the president, he reiterated Vietnam´s solidarity and permanent support for Cuba.

The ambassador praised the great and exemplary contribution to the world by Vietnam´s struggle for independence, and sovereignty, and for building a homeland 10 times more beautiful, as predicted by President Ho Chi Minh, demonstrating that it is possible to have a country in peace, prosperous and with social justice after so many sacrifices.

He also remembered the generations of Cubans – fighters, builders, doctors, and internationalists – who contributed modestly to building that more beautiful Vietnam, as well as those who in the diplomatic field laid the foundations and forged the special ties between both nations.

“We trust that together, Vietnam and Cuba, will continue to contribute to peace, prosperity, and justice that is so necessary for the peoples of the world and that, increasingly united, we will build that relationship which we are proud of,” the ambassador concluded.
