Exhibition of Cuban artists opens in Crimea

Moscow, Dec 26 (Prensa Latina) 30 paintings by Cuban artists are on display for the first time in the central library of Crimea.

In her opening speech, Irina Kiviko, vice president of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and president of the regional society branch, said that the exhibition is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Russian Society of Friendship with Cuba.

“Today is a great day for us. For the first time, an exhibition of Cuban artists opened in Simferopol City, Crimea. We have the opportunity to touch the art of the Island of Freedom and appreciate the creativity of Cuban masters,” said Kiviko, who also recalled that the society was founded in 1964 and that its first presidents were the first cosmonaut of the planet, Yuri Gagarin, and the legendary commander Ernesto Che Guevara.

“We continue those glorious traditions. We hold creative competitions and involve young people interested in what is happening on the island and discuss with their peers the problems that concern them despite the enormous distances that separate Crimea and Cuba,” the official emphasized.

The exhibition, covering the period from 1961 to 1965, presents 30 works in different styles.
