The Navy’s finding of two more bodies on Thursday, brought the number of confirmed fatalities to eight.
There is no information on the identity of the last two victims found, as the remains have not yet been removed from the water.
Besides the two fatalities, divers also found a truck loaded with sulfuric acid, a motorcycle and a pick-up truck submerged in the waters of the Tocantins river.
At least eight vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles, were traveling on the 533-meter viaduct when it collapsed.
The search has encountered difficulties, given suspected water contamination, since three trucks carrying 22 thousand liters of agricultural pesticides and 76 tons of sulfuric acid, a corrosive chemical product, fell into the Tocantins.
The operation involves teams from the Federal Police, the states of Tocantins, Maranhão and Pará, the Fire Brigade, the Federal Highway Police and the Navy.
The Tocantins Military Police continues to offer on-site support, reaffirming its commitment to society and providing support to the families affected by the accident, according to reports.
Authorities are still investigating what could have caused the collapse of the structure on December 22, at about 14:50 (local time).
