According to different press reports, President Santiago Peña said that the funds would be used to purchase equipment and to reinforce the work of the Anti-Drug Secretariat, the military forces, and the National Police.
They will also be used to support the work of other agencies, the exchange of information, and the carrying out of joint operations between different government agencies.
As part of the fight against drug trafficking, this Monday Paraguay revealed the seizure of 57 thousand kilograms of marijuana that were ready to cross into Brazilian territory from the area of Marangatú, in the department of Canindeyú. It is considered the largest seizure in the country´s history. During the operation, four people were arrested, and eight vehicles and firearms were confiscated.
