According to preliminary information reported by the local newspaper Escambray, last night’s fire was probably caused by an explosion in one of the three tanks that stored the liquid known as RC, used in the manufacture of asphalt.

As a result of the incident, an injured worker was reported, who is currently receiving medical attention at the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital and is in critical condition, with burns of 50% on the upper body and a head trauma.
