“Currently, Africa has become an area of special interest. The US administration sees this region as an unlimited natural reservoir of pathogens of dangerous infections and a testing ground for experimental drugs in the field,” Rtischev told a press conference.
The officer said that documents held by Russian military personnel show that the US biological military presence on the African continent is growing at an accelerated pace. He mentioned in particular that the US Army and Navy medical research centers have field stations in Kenya, branches in Ghana and Djibouti, as well as a laboratory in Nigeria. More than 20 biological facilities in 18 African countries are involved in the implementation of an initiative focused on the study of the genome of pathogens, he added.
According to Rtischev, the United States uses in Africa the same biological risk management system that it previously successfully tested in Ukraine and Georgia.
According to the Russian general, “a clear trend is emerging: pathogens that arouse the interest of the Pentagon then spread as pandemics, and the beneficiaries are the American pharmaceutical companies.”
