The NGO requested in a statement the intervention of the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Tlaleng Mofokeng.
It warned about the situation in the coastal enclave, especially in the north, following a military offensive launched more than two months ago, which led to a severe humanitarian crisis there. The Foundation stressed that while the hospital system in Gaza is in crisis due to the war, the situation in the northern region was worsened by the army’s raids on the Al-Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals.
This deliberate policy of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement of the population is being carried out openly without an international reaction, it stressed.
Direct attacks on health centers and health workers constitute a war crime, according to the International Criminal Court.
The world must assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities to protect the right to health, put pressure on Israeli forces to lift the siege on hospitals, and ensure needed medical supplies, it said.
