We are ready to give all support to Syria, and its recovery is important for the whole region, Al-Safadi told reporters after being received in the capital by the head of the current Syrian authority, Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
He said the new administration in Damascus should take its time to develop its plans, and supported the transition process in Syria and the drafting of a new constitution.
We look forward to the formation of a government that represents all sects, he said.
He clarified that his talks with Al-Sharaa addressed the issue of terrorism and cooperation in dealing with it, as it constitutes a danger and a threat to all.
The Foreign Minister explained that Syrian refugees want to return to their homeland, but the return must be voluntary and safe.
Finally, he said that the Arab countries agreed to support Syria at this stage without any external interference.
On Monday, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed Al-Khulaifi also began a visit to Syria, where he will meet with the new authorities.
This diplomatic activity follows similar visits by Türkiye Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Undersecretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara A. Leaf.
