“We support the demonstrations of the Cuban people together with their authorities from the Communist Party and Government, in repudiation of the inhumane blockade maintained by the United States,” the MIU stated on Instagram, in a text that was accompanied by images of the patriotic march in Havana on December 20.
The political force led by Miguel Mejía expressed its support for this initiative against Washington’s economic blockade, which limits Cuba’s economic development and affects families, and for its exclusion from the White House’s unilateral list of countries allegdely sponsor terrorism.
The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) declared in Cuba, in 2014, that Latin America and the Caribbean is a region of Peace, recalled the MIU.
However, several countries warn Cuba to experience a real economic war by the world’s leading economy.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, at the presentation at the United Nations last October of the draft Resolution entitled “Necessity to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba,” stated that the blockade is an economic, financial and commercial war, and described it as a crime of genocide.
“It is a flagrant, massive and systematic violation of the human rights of our people. It is the most overreaching, comprehensive and prolonged system of unilateral coercive measures that has been applied throughout history against any country,” he added.
In its message on Instagram, the MIU stated that Cuba is not alone! We are all Cuba! Solidarity unites the people!
