An important topic was the increase in the number of scholarships granted to Haitian students, especially for medical specialties that are more difficult to find in the country.
This initiative aims to train a new generation of qualified medical professionals who can meet the growing needs of the Haitian healthcare system.
The newspaper Haiti Libre noted that in 26 years, the Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti has performed 36,167,339 consultations, delivered 200,827 children, performed 22,582 cesarean sections and 725,093 surgeries, 249,318 of which were for adults, and 210,100 patients were rehabilitated in physical therapy services.
In the case of Operation Miracle, to improve the vision of Haitians, Cuban ophtlamologists operated on 73,404 people.
In addition, 1,270,416 tests, 39,034 x-rays, 745,651 ultrasounds, 114,996 endoscopies, 115,309 electrocardiograms were performed, and 77,391 lives were saved.
