In the presence of Army General Raúl Castro and thousands of Havana residents who marched in front of the Embassy of the United States, representing the Cuban people, the head of State demanded respect for the the country’s right to build its future in peace.
He stated that the incumbent US administration, 30 days from the end of its term, did not reverse the policy of its predecessor, Donald Trump (2017-2021), who will take office again next month.
With the implementation of 243 additional measures and Cuba’s inclusion on the SSOT list, Biden complied with discipline and cruelty with the policy that Trump approved during his term, Díaz-Canel said.
The president stressed that pointing to Cuba as a state that allegedly sponsors terrorism is at the very least false and immoral, wherever the accusation comes from, but it is doubly so when it comes from US territory.
There, paramilitary groups that organize, promote and finance terrorist actions against social and economic structures in Cuba are training, he denounced.
Cuba’s permanence on that list and the intensification of the blockade policy are actions against the Cuban people and must cease now, Díaz-Canel demanded.
He pointed out that this march is not against the US people, against whom Cuba does not profess the slightest feeling of hatred or animosity, but against the efforts by the Government of that power to snatch away from Cuba its sovereignty, independence and its socialism, against which it will always find rebellion and intransigence, he said.
The head of State recalled that Cuba has lent a hand to all the governments of the United States since the triumph of the Revolution until today, always in terms of a serious, respectful relationship and on equal terms.
Against the plan by US imperialism and its attempt to impose itself by force or seduction, we will march now and always, the Cuban president stressed.
