Prime minister defines Cuba’s work priorities in 2025

Havana, Dec 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's work priorities in 2025 will be to advance in the recovery of the National Power System and the implementation of a mechanism for the allocation, management and control of foreign currencies, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero stated on Wednesday.

During the 4th Ordinary Session of the National People’s Power Assembly, the prime minister presented the work priorities in the Government’s program to correct distortions and boost the economy in 2025.

Marrero noted that special attention will be paid to the implementation of the actions planned for the partial dollarization of the economy, the progress in the resizing of the foreign exchange market, and the increase in domestic production, including the expansion and consolidation of offers of state goods and services.

He added that work will be done to improve the socialist state enterprise and budgeted units, as well as to develop, lead and organize the participation of the non-state sector in the country’s economic and social life.

Marrero explained that Cuba would focus on trengthening the municipality, working with the cadres, raising the quality of social services, protecting people, families and communities in vulnerable situations and promoting subsidies for people and not for products.

He stressed that actions will continue to be taken to prevent and confront crime, corruption, illegalities and social indiscipline, in addition to the implementation of measures to reduce social inequalities.

The prime minister pointed out that the implementation of a program for the recovery of the National Power System and the management of science and innovation, social communication and digital transformation will be added to the Government’s projections in order to promote the spheres of development and improve government management.

He also referred to the progress of the Comprehensive Policy for Children, Adolescents and Youth, the Women’s Advancement Program, the program against racism and discrimination, and the revaluation of rural areas.

The head of Government explained that 185,841 families are protected by social assistance, which includes 320,441 beneficiaries who are in a situation of economic vulnerability, and that care for people with wandering behavior and the operation of protection centers are being improved.

Marrero stressed that the Government’s projections “will continue to be the guiding thread of our work, aware that it is the most viable alternative to meet the challenges of recovery and re-boost the economy, in conditions of economic war and the worsening of the global economic and financial crisis.”
