Argentina to extradite Brazilian coup plotters in February

Brasilia, Dec 18 (Prensa Latina) At least five fugitives, detained in Argentina after being convicted of attempted coup d’état in Brazil, will have in February extradition requests by the courts of the neighboring country, the UOL portal reveals.

The report determined that the Justice tendency is to accompany the extradition request made by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) of Argentina, the body that will represent the Brazilian State in the trial.

If the decision is to extradite the fugitives, their defense can still appeal to the Supreme Court in Buenos Aires.

The National Refugee Commission in case of granting protección can block a possible ruling in favor of the transfer, and by President Javier Milei himself.

The five escapees were arrested in November at different points in Argentina.

The Bolsonaro militants’ escape (followers of former President Jair Bolsonaro) to the country ruled by Milei was revealed in May by UOL.
