The Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc denounced in a statement that Canada, like the US government, persists in its policy of imposing sanctions on officials of the Venezuelan public powers, in the name of “democracy.”
The Alliance expressed that these so-called “sanctions” are nothing more than a failed attempt to pressure the sister Bolivarian nation, with the purpose of promoting destabilization and forcing a change of government.
All of this in clear violation of the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and International Law, the group said, stressing that the Bolivarian Republic has the right to build its own model without interference of any kind and “to continue walking the path of prosperity and well-being, no matter how uncomfortable it may be for the governments in Ottawa and Washington.”
ALBA-TCP again rejected this new wave of illegal and arbitrary measures, and demanded respect for the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people.
