National Ballet of Cuba hails Ibero-American Dance Day

Havana, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) On the occassion of the Ibero American Dance Day and the birth of Cuba's late Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso, two books recounting the history of ballet in the island will be launched on Saturday 21st in Havana.

Dance Day has been celebrated on that day of December since 2020, following a joint agreement in an extraordinary meeting by the foreign ministers of Ibero American nations.

According to the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), the two books, published by Ruth Publishing House, are “Alicia, el ballet y yo” and “Ballet Nacional de Cuba: siete década de creación coreográficq” (National Ballet of Cuba: seven decades of choreographic creation), by Dr. Miguel Cabrera, the Cuban ensemble’s renown historian.

The book launch will be chaired by Cuban writer, poet and ethnologist Miguel Barnet, National Literature Prize winner, at the BNC’s Havana, on Calzada Street, between D and E, El Vedado neighborhood).
