Kirilov’s assassination results from approval of Kiev’s war crimes

Moscow, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) The assassination of the head of Russia's radiological, chemical and biological protection troops, Igor Kirilov, is the result of support for Ukraine's war crimes, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Tuesday.

“The attack in Moscow was a continuation and a development of the spiral of approval by the West of the war crimes by the supporters of Kiev’s regime,” the diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel.

Kirilov was included in the database of the Ukrainian website Mirotvorets (Peacemaker), which collects information on people it accuses of being enemies of Ukraine or working against the country’s interests, she noted.

Zakharova also accused the United States of supporting the activities of the controversial database, which Russia has strongly condemned.

Noting the lack of reaction from foreign countries to the assassination, the spokeswoman noted that “all those who welcome the attacks or deliberately silence them are accomplices.”

Earlier, the Russian Investigative Committee reported that Lieutenant General Kirilov and his assistant had been killed as a result of an explosion near a residential building in eastern Moscow on Tuesday morning.

The explosive device, with a power equivalent to 200 grams of trilithon, according to preliminary information, was planted on an electrical scooter parked at the entrance to a residential building on Ryazansky Avenue.

The blast wave blew out windows on several floors of a 25-story building opposite the site of the explosion.

In the aftermath, Russia’s main investigative body has opened a criminal case on charges of assassination, terrorist attack, and illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition.

Born on July 13, 1970, Kirilov has gained a lot of media visibility in recent years for repeatedly accusing Ukraine and the United States of preparing attacks with chemical and biological weapons.
