“Reforms are not limited to improving the electoral process, but to creating a fairer and more inclusive system that upholds all citizens’ fundamental rights,” Skerrit argued.

The right to vote and electoral reforms are key to constitutional norms, the Prime Minister said.

We understand in the government that this step is similar to the constitutional reform because of the fundamental right of citizens to vote, he said.

According to Skerrit, the diaspora of Dominica living in different parts of the world will be able to vote under the new reforms.

The Prime Minister called San Cristobal’s electoral reform model an inspiration for the new amendments.
