The established retirement age will not be altered, she said when speaking in the debate that was jointly developed by the commissions for Attention to Local Organs of People’s Power and for Attention to Youth, Children and the Rights of Equality of Women.

In Cuba, to qualify for ordinary retirement, women must prove 30 years of active service or turn 60, and men 65.

The lawmakers who are members of these structures analyzed how the implementation of the policy for the care of citizens, families and households in vulnerable situations is making progress.

In this regard, Feitó warned about the need to promote the professionalization of social workers to guarantee quality care work in accordance with the peculiarities of each case.

During the day, the delegates also debated unemployment and agreed on the urgency to articulate strategies with the purpose of incorporating young people who are not involved in study and work into development projects.

They also insisted that dialogue should be held with children, adolescents and young people about inclusion, sexuality, gender violence and discrimination, among other topics, to contribute to the Government’s efforts to promote their development.

The work of the Permanent Commissions, prior to the 4th Ordinary Session of Parliament, in its 10th Legislature, concluded on Tuesday.

The 4th Session will open on Wednesday until Friday at Havana’s International Conference Center, where the Commissions also met.
