It is a place of difficult access, of indigenous communities, where the professionals of the island have achieved a very high protagonism, they have saved the lives of many newborns, the follow-up of pregnant women is at a high level and the rates of surgery have risen, Dr. Barbiel Nápoles explained.
The coordinator of the medical brigade of the Caribbean country in that state, located on the Pacific coast, told Prensa Latina that this group was the first from Cuba to arrive in Mexico and did so on July 22, 2022 with specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics and Gynecology.
From 60 professionals initially, there are now 164, including cardiologists, otolaryngologists, neurologists and proctologists.
“Relations are wonderful. We have been welcomed with great love and affection by the people here in Nayarit. The goal is to continue the mission by bringing health to the most intricate area,” Nápoles said, assuring they will be there as long as their presence is necessary.
He considered it a challenge to lead the brigade, but at the same time he said that all its members are trained specialists and have become very well integrated in the medicine of this nation.
