Cuban Paralympic athlete increases lead in Prensa Latina Survey

Havana, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) The three-time Cuban Paralympic champion in Paris 2024, Omara Durand, increased her lead today in the women's race of the Prensa Latina Survey to choose the best athletes in Latin America and the Caribbean this year.

Durand received this Sunday the preference of the Cuban radio station COCO, with which she reached 18 votes and separated herself from the Dominican runner Marileidy Paulino, who has eight, after receiving the one from the digital media of her country Primer Momento.

As for the male athlete, COCO and Primer Momento selected the Cuban wrestler Mijaín López, who widely dominates his section with 39 votes, well ahead of his closest follower, the Salvadoran tennis player Marcelo Arévalo (3), who this Sunday had the support of the website El Salvador Fan Club.

As for the teams, the radio station from the capital chose the Cuban Baseball 5 team, which is second with 13 votes, compared to the Argentine soccer team with 22, which added the Salvadoran team.

The voting period will be open until December 23, and the results will be announced a day later through a press conference.

The media, in all its forms -radio, television, print media, agencies, digital portals- can send their selections to the email address deportes@prensa-latina.cu, from where the general vote will be compiled.
