Russia-based Fidel Castro Foundation launches magazine in Cuba

Havana, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) The Fidel Castro Ruz Center in Havana hosted the launch of the Cuba magazine, published by the Russia-based Foundation named after the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

The magazine is inspired by a publication printed by Prensa Latina News Agency in the Soviet era, with the same name and a similar purpose: to make Cuba’s reality known among Russian-speaking people and promote bilateral relations, Leonid Savin, president of the board of directors of the Fidel Castro Foundation in Moscow, said on Friday.

According to the Russian researcher, journalist and activist, Cuba has a long history of struggles, beginning in the 19th century, and is an example of ideological continuity and resistance, which arouses great interest in his country.

This first issue, presented just two weeks ago in the Russian capital, contains articles by Cuban and Russian experts on Cuba’s economic situation, its challenges and prospects, as well as analyses of the media war sponsored by its external enemies.

The magazine also contains an article on National Hero José Martí, by Marlene Vázquez, director of the Center on Marti’s Studies in Havana.

At the meeting, Savin invited researchers, journalists and scholars to collaborate with the magazine, which has a digital version and whose next issue will be launched in May 2025 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Russia.

He stated that his fellow citizens and the large Cuban community in Russia are also eager to learn about current cultural events, educational processes, internal politics, tourist options, scientific achievements, social activism, and to delve deeper into the rich history of the rebellious Caribbean island.

The relaunch of the magazine is part of the program of events organized by the Fidel Castro Ruz Center to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
