Orban recalled that on December 11th he discussed by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin the possibility of a Christmas truce and a large-scale prisoner exchange between the two countries.
Budapest subsequently drew Kiev’s attention to its initiative through diplomatic channels, but Vladimir Zelensky rejected the proposal.
On the same day, Orbán publicly expressed his disappointment at this. “One side agreed, the other apparently refused, but the possibility still remains,” he stressed.
The Prime Minister noted that a massive prisoner exchange between the warring parties could make hundreds or thousands of people happy.
