The organization that represents the left reaches this condition -previously it was in the elections of 2014 and 2019- according to the rules of the Electoral Tribunal (TE), by exceeding the required minimum of 45,503 adherents.
According to statements to the newspaper La Estrella de Panama, several analysts estimate that in this way the FAD is consolidated as an alternative in a political landscape dominated by traditional political parties.
For the scholar Javier Ordinola, the success of the FAD responds to a growing discontent with traditional parties and that many Panamanians identify with their discourse, with an emphasis on the disenchantment of vulnerable sectors and organized workers.
For his part, José Stoute, emphasizes the constancy of the FAD in its organizational effort as a key element for its third re-registration. Although the FAD achieved an important breakthrough, both researchers agree that it must evolve to reach new sectors of the population, such as the middle class, and not be limited to trade unions and workers’ organizations, especially in times of elections –the closest in 2029.
