The event will take place on December 11 and 12 in the city of Punta Cana, La Altagracia province, to assess the contributions of the forum to political dialogue for the nations of the Western Hemisphere, according to a press release from the Foreign Ministry.
It noted that it would be a closed dialogue, moderated by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez, with the presence of former presidents of the region, foreign ministers, ambassadors, deputy ministers and other international guests.
The statement added that ministers, directors and officials from different branches of the Dominican State will also attend the meeting.
The Summits of the Americas have been held every three or four years since their founding edition in Miami in 1994.
The Dominican Republic will host the 10th Summit in 2025. The 9th of these meetings, held in Los Angeles, the United States, was marked by the absence of several regional leaders, several of them due to the White House’s decision to exclude the presidents of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from its guest list.
