The diplomat highlighted on X the meeting in China of Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with the Indian ambassador to China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat.

Last week, representatives of the two countries continued talks on the border issue at the thirty-second meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination, which took place in New Delhi.

The meeting was chaired by Gourangalal Das, Joint Secretary of the Indian Foreign Ministry, and Hong Liang, Director General of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of China, and meant the preparation of the upcoming meeting of the special representatives of both countries, diplomatic sources reported.

The delegations agreed on the positive aspects of the implementation of the recent disengagement agreement, reviewed the situation in the border areas and reflected on the lessons learned from the events of 2020 to prevent a repeat.

In previous days, the Indian Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyan Jaishankar, addressed both houses of Parliament to explain the development and results of the disengagement process on the border with China.

Jaishankar considered that there is progress in bilateral relations in different areas and declared that both governments are clear about the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas as a prerequisite for the development of ties. He also noted that the withdrawal of troops from the common border was carried out through a step-by-step process established in the agreement of October 21st.
