Sujo, present in Havana film event and heading to Oscar 2025

Havana, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) The 2024 film Sujo, which plans to represent Mexico at next year's Oscars, is now part of the 45th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana.

This Tuesday afternoon, the Acapulco theater will host the screening of the award-winning feature film, directed by Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valadez.

When a drug trafficker is murdered, he leaves behind Sujo, his four-year-old son, who is surrounded by a violent environment at every stage of his life, the synopsis highlights.

Later, the boy matures and discovers that avoiding his father’s fate is inevitable.

The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Grand Prix at the Sofia International Film Festival in Bulgaria.

It also won the Canvas Award at the Moov International Film Festival in Belgium and the Cine+ and Rail d’Oc awards at Cinelatino in Toulouse, France.

Meanwhile, the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that it will represent Mexico as a candidate to be nominated for the 2025 Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category.
