Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the situation in Syria with his Lebanese counterpart, Najib Mikati, and asked for cooperation in granting visas to Pakistani citizens entering Lebanon from Syria to continue their journey home.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s sovereignty amid the Israeli aggression, voiced satisfaction over the recent ceasefire agreement, and urged for a similar measure to end Tel Aviv’s atrocities in Gaza.
Sharif also expressed Pakistan’s full solidarity with Lebanon and Islamabad’s willingness to continue providing humanitarian assistance to what he described as a brotherly people.
Following the overthrow of the government of Bashar al-Assad, international concern grows over Syria’s fate, with armed groups controlling the country and Israel’s increasing incursions into Syria.
