“We wish a speedy recovery to Brazil’s President Lula. We send him a strong hug from Cuba,” he wrote on Twitter.
According to the first medical bulletin published at 3:20 a.m., Lula, 79, fell ill in Brasilia, where he underwent an imaging exam after feeling a headache, still in the hospital unit of the federal capital.
MRI showed intracranial hemorrhage, a result of the domestic accident suffered in October.
He was taken to the Syrian-Lebanese hospital, where he underwent a “craniotomy to drain the hematoma. The surgery was carried out without complications,” the hospital said.
According to the clinical report, “At the moment, the president is well, under supervision in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit).”
On October 19, Lula fell in a bathroom at the Alvorada Palace (the official residence of the presidency in Brasilia) and hit himself in the neck region.
