On board the ship, an experienced medical staff provides consultation, diagnosis and treatment in 14 clinical areas supported by five auxiliary departments with state-of-the-art equipment, such as laparoscopic surgical robots and digital X-ray machines, the Djiboutian Information Agency revealed.
Interventions cover various specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology and otolaryngology. Capable of accommodating between 600 and 700 patients, L’Arche de la Paix (Arch of Peace) performs up to 30 physical examinations a day.
Since its entry into service in 2008, the hospital ship has carried out 10 Harmony missions, visited nearly 50 countries and regions, treated more than 300,000 people and performed more than 1,600 surgical procedures.
