Arce expressed confidence that the strength and determination that the Brazilian leader ‘has always shown will accompany him in the healing process. We are with him in thought’.

‘The surgery was succesful. So far, the president is doing well, under follow-up in the Intensive Care Unit’, informed the Syrio-Lebanese Hospital of Sao Paulo in a statement.

According to doctors, the dignitary felt a headache and underwent an MRI in Brasilia which showed a brain hemorrhage, attributed to the fall he suffered 45 days ago.

A month after his fall, which required five stiches in the back of his neck, Lula hosted the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where he welcome dozens of leaders, among them Luis Arce, with whom he also met last week in Montevideo, Uruguay, on the sidelines of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) Summit.
