A headache lands Brazil’s Lula in surgery room

Brasilia, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, is recovering Tuesday after undergoing a head surgery to drain a head hematoma the night before, at the Syrio-Lebanese Hospital here.

According to the first medical bulletin published at 03:20 hours (local time) on Tuesday, Lula, 79, fell ill in Brasilia, where he underwent an MRI scan after complaining of a headache while still in the hospital.

The scan showed an intracranial hemorrhage, as a result of the domestic accident he suffered in October.

The clinical report stated, “At this moment, the president is well, under supervision in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit).”

On October 19, Lula fell in a bathroom of his home at the Alvorada Palace (the Presidency in Brasilia) and hit the back of his head.

He was given five stitches and had been undergoing periodic MRI scans.
