Venezuela will continue on a free and independent path, Maduro states

Caracas, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) President Nicolás Maduro stated on Monday that Venezuela will continue on its free, independent, peaceful, sovereign path with a united people.

At the civic-military ceremony commemorating the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho at the Paseo Monumental Los Próceres in Caracas, the Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) stressed that the victory of that battle is the victory of all centuries.

He recalled that the troops led by Grand Marshal Antonio José de Sucre masterfully defeated the powerful Spanish Army, thereby “sealing forever the victory of the liberation of our continent from three centuries of ruthless and criminal colonialism.” That destiny marks us for now and forever, “we are the victors of Ayacucho, of all times and all centuries,” he said.

Maduro stressed that this commits them to the powerful popular, military and police fusion that encompasses the five generations of the Historic Block of free Venezuela of the 21st century.

The same battles and with the same intensity that the liberators fought 200 years ago, “today we fight them to make a homeland that is an example of dignity, with an educated and cultured people, that builds its maximum social security, its own economic model, independent, productive, economic and political,” Maduro added.

A people who feels proud of building its diverse cultural identity and are enriched by the roots of all the peoples that make up this beautiful mixture of mestizaje, he stressed.

The Venezuelan president pointed out that yesterday the generation of the liberators amply accomplished the mission that fell to them in a brilliant way and “today we are going to celebrate it as is being done throughout America.”

However, more than celebrating, he said, we have to swear a commitment from our hearts that “we will be like Sucre, Ayacucho and this country will continue its free and independent course, peaceful, sovereign and with a united people.”
