The meeting occurred during Abinader’s visit to Qatar this weekend, where he participated in the Doha World Forum.
During the dialogue, the Emir of Qatar expressed his government’s interest in investing in the Dominican Republic.
They also talked about the possibility of establishing a direct Qatar Airways flight to the Dominican Republic, according to the press office of the Dominican president.
Both men had previously headed a meeting of their respective ministerial teams, conducive to business, commercial, and investment interests.
The working gathering with the Emir of Qatar and his team was attended, on behalf of the Dominican Republic, by the Ministers of Finance, José Manuel Vicente; of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugo Rivera.
Also in attendance were the director of the ProDominican Export and Investment Center, Biviana Riveiro, and the Dominican ambassador to Qatar, Georges Bahsa Hazim.
President Abinader’s official visit to Qatar concludes this Monday and he will return to Santo Domingo tomorrow, Tuesday.
