Japan urges halt to violence in Syria

Tokyo, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) The Japanese government on Monday voiced concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Syria and urged all parties involved to stop the violence.

Chief Executive Spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi called to uphold international law and ease tensions in the Middle East region.

After a lightning offensive, Islamist forces led by the Islamic militant group Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) took over Damascus in just 12 days, prompting President Bashar al-Asad and his family to flee the country and request political asylum in Russia.

Many nations have expressed concern about the impact of these events on both Syria and its people, as well as the political situation in this convulsed region at large.

Some few hours after the fall of President Al-Assad and the coming to power of an Islamist alliance, the Israeli Air Force bombed several Syrian military facilities and occupied new swathes of territory in that country’s southern region.
