The Ministry of Health’s monitoring report covers from 2014 to 2024.
Of those diagnosed this year, 83% are on antiretroviral drugs and only 15% are on medication.
This year, Brazil met the UN global target by diagnosing 96% of people estimated to be infected with HIV who were unaware of the serologic condition.
However, the country still falls short of the treatment target, representing the percentage of people who know their diagnosis and are under medical care.
The data from the portfolio shows that of the total number of people with HIV and clinical follow-up, 676,422 are men and 326,730 women.
The 40-59 age group has the highest percentage on both sides: 28,4% (women) and 16,6% (men).
