Torrential rains cut off access to Dominican Puerto Plata Province

Santo Domingo, Dec 5 (Prensa Latina) Several localities remain cut off today in the Dominican province of Puerto Plata, following the flooding of some rivers and ravines overflown by rains, the Civil Defense reported.

The agency said same scenario has been reported at El Toro and Guzmancito, in the Maimon municipality, Villa Isabela and Estero Hondo, El Castillo, Imbert and Barrancon.

The Civil Defense said that until last night there had been no reports of injured or displaced by the accumulation of water and overflowing rivers in Puerto Plata, located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.

On Wednesday the Emergency Operations Center (COE) declared this province on alert given the torrential rains fallen and in prevention of new downpours in the next few hours.

The precipitations are associated with a trough and the incidence of a frontal system over the national territory.
