Syrian anti-aircraft defense shoots down drones over the capital

Damascus, Dec 5 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian army's anti-aircraft defenses today aborted a drone attack in the sky over Damascus, the capital.

A military source clarified that the sounds of the explosions heard were due to the downing of two unmanned aerial vehicles and assured the attack did not cause human victims or material losses.

The identity of the aircraft and whether they are Israeli or from radical groups opposed to the government, has not yet been confirmed.

A few hours before the attack, radical groups took control of the city of Hama, capital of the province of the same name, located about 250 kilometers north of this capital.

After fierce fighting for seven days to defend this strategic and vital city, the irregular groups managed to enter the city from the northeast direction, occupying three neighborhoods and then expanding their control over the rest.

The General Command of the Syrian Army and Armed Forces acknowledged that troops have withdrawn from the city and concentrated on its outskirts to prevent the city from becoming a scene of fighting.
