In a message to Prensa Latina, the vice president of the Students Federation of India (SFI), Nidheesh Narayanan, confirmed that the event, held at the Stalin Center, issued a public declaration on the reinforcement of solidarity activities with Cuba.
Chaired by Chithra Bhanu and Viswanathan, members of the Leadership Committee of the International Front of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the session consisted of the presentation of Narayanan’s book “Vazhve Manithar,” which is inspired by his visit to Cuba last year.
The book deals about the experience of the young Indian man after touring sports, educational and healthcare centers in Cuba, where he learned first-hand about the achievements that the Cuban people and government are defending amid the difficulties caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
Also present at the event were the general secretary of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) in Karnataka, Yashavantha; the state treasurer of the organization, Naveen Kumar; and Shivappa and Vijay, president and state secretary of the SFI, respectively.
The people of India, together with political and social organizations, have always supported Cuba in its struggle to defend democracy from the imperialist threats of the United States.
On numerous occasions, union, student and youth leaders have underscored Cuba’s anti-imperialist stance as an element that motivates and inspires those who still fight for their rights in various parts of the world.
