After a meeting between Cuban ambassador Andrés González and Sri Lankan Minister of Health, Nalinda Jayatissa, the institution stated on X that it plans to strengthen treatment services and adopt proven Cuban mosquito control methods, and the commitment to full support of knowledge and technology provided by Cuba.
During the conversations, the Cuban ambassador informed Nalinda Jayatissa about some of the products used by Cuba in the fight against dengue. Bactivev, used to control mosquito larvae, was one of the products highlighted by Gonzalez in the presence of the acting secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wathsala Priyadarshani, the director general of Health Services, Asela Gunawardena, the head of Epidemiology, Hasitha Thisera, the director of the Dengue Control Unit, Sudath Samaraweera, and the first secretary of the diplomatic mission, Maribel Duarte.
The ambassador also mentioned other Cuban pharmacology and biotechnology products and the primary health care programs being developed satisfactorily in Cuba.
The Minister of Health expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the Cuban Government to exchange Cuba’s experience and knowledge with Sri Lanka, said the Cuban embassy.
