At the meeting, Ambassador Alina Aldama highlighted the work and responsibility of the collaborators of the Cuban medical brigade, together with the sports advisors, in the daily work to offer medical assistance, save lives, and provide the necessary knowledge to the students and the Timorese population.
The event was attended by the ambassadors of the Sahrawi Arab Republic, Boibat Malaínin Boibuat; and José Andrade de Lemus, from the Republic of Angola.
Also present were the head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Timor Leste, Sergio Rabell; the coordinator of the Sports Brigade, Nordis Sánchez; the director of the Higher School of Medicine, Alis Cantalapiedra; as well as officials, collaborators and Timorese students.
The students of the Cuban School of Medicine in Dili were in charge of interpreting the national anthems of each country, while Dr. Yanitza Bonet recited the work “El Psiquiatra” (The Psychiatrist), by Luis Carbonell.
The day of Latin American Medicine is celebrated in honor of the famous Cuban researcher, scientist and doctor Carlos J. Finlay, discoverer of the agent that transmits yellow fever.
