Cuba’s CUJAE closes 60th-anniversary celebrations

Havana, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) The Jose Antonio Echeverria Technological University in Havana (CUJAE), Cuba's leading institution on technical sciences and architecture, concludes its 60th-anniversary celebrations this Tuesday.

The sixty-year activities started on Monday with a run-walk at the university itself, followed by CUJAE’s declaration as a national monument and the premiere of the documentary film on its sixty years.

The official gala will take place at the Karl Marx Theater in this capital today.

The first facilities of the Jose Antonio Echeverria University City were inaugurated on December 2, 1964, and began as the Technology Faculty of the University of Havana in 1960.

Its building was designed by architect Humberto Alonso, along with a great team, followed by his colleague Fernando Salinas.

According to its academics, CUJAE has adapted its programs, during these 60 years, to the needs of the Cuban socio-economic context, intending to foster innovation and critical thinking among its students.

The technological institution has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students and has become a benchmark in training leaders in science and technology.

An estimated 13 careers are studied at CUJAE.
