The protest was called by the Central de Trabajadores (CTA), the CTA Autónoma, the Unión de Trabajadores de la Economía Popular, Territorios en Lucha, small and medium-sized companies and other groups. The participants will join the March of Resistance of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo and organizations defending human rights.
“In addition to strongly expressing our demand to build a homeland without hunger in the face of this government of plunder and surrender, we want to express our will to defend national sovereignty,” said CTA-A Secretary General Hugo Godoy in a press conference.
He also denounced the violence, hate speech, and persecution of those who protest against the Executive’s measures. “It is important to convey our desire to strengthen unity. We call on all forces to be part of these efforts to have a country with production, work, and proposals to build a new experience that recovers the hope of our people,” he said.
In this regard, the head of the CTA, Hugo Yasky, warned about the increase in hunger, poverty, and indigence, and opposed the application of measures that attack retirees and the most vulnerable groups. “We create a country with social justice. We are not going to let anyone go or hand over any flag to those who believe themselves to be the owners of Argentina,” he expressed.
