Angola and US presidents to hold talks in Luanda

Luanda, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) The President of Angola, João Lourenço, will receive today his counterpart from the United States, Joe Biden, at the Presidential Palace in Ciudad Alta, as part of the official visit to the country.

The leaders are scheduled to have a private meeting before leading their respective delegations in a dialogue that should be focused on strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.

On Tuesday, the programme also includes a visit to the Slavery Museum in Luanda, while tomorrow a trip to the province of Benguela is booked to participate in the Lobito Corridor Summit, which will also be attended by the presidents of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Tanzania.

Biden arrived in the country the day before and was received at the international airport “4 de Fevereiro” by Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António.

On Monday also a delegation of the US Congress, which is in Angola as part of the visit of the US president, visited the National Assembly and was received by the president of the body, Carolina Cerqueira.

The delegations from both countries discussed the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation and pledged to boost the Angola-United States of America National Friendship Group, a note published on the Parliament’s website.
