The cargo of narcotics arrived there in a recreational fishing boat that stopped and alleged mechanical failures.
When Australian authorities boarded the vessel, they found 51 packages of cocaine weighing some 40 kilograms each, with an estimated minimum overall value of over US$490 million.
The crew claimed that they had picked up the cargo from a mother ship at sea.
An operation led authorities to arrest several suspects in connection with the case over the weekend and revealed that they suspect strong links to drug trafficking mafias abroad.
