The academics from the University of Communication of China, Zhang Yanqiu and Ge Yanling, who were invited by the Institute of Information and Social Communication (IICS), explained to professionals from the organization the benefits and risks of using this technological tool in the press.

They pointed out that the creative and ethical use of AI contributes to improving the global positioning of our nations’ truth, subjected to strong discredit campaigns by Western powers, led by the Government of the United States.

The experts presented to journalists and IICS officials the experiences in the subject, which reveal a high impact on the effectiveness of the media, access to public services and the direct link between government authorities and citizens.

In this regard, they noted the development of applications and virtual network platforms specific to China, which counteract the actions of US cyberwar.

The use of AI is expanding in the information sector in Chinese media, because it favors the speed of the process of construction and editing of news, allows for a more effective use of journalists and the design of attractive programs for the public, they said.

However, the professors warned about the risk of dehumanization of work, the high dependence on this technology, the proliferation of misleading content, illicit use of data and a lack of creativity in message proposals, among other evils.

In this area, China applies strong control and prevention measures, said Zhang and Ge, who visited the national television station Canal Caribe on Monday, and will meet with executives of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) on Tuesday, among other activities in their agenda here.

The professors are experts in artificial intelligence, media regulation and promoters of the initiative of a shared future between China and other peoples.
