The meeting, headed yesterday by President Migue Diaz-Canel, checked, among other issues, the reduction of the budget deficit, one of the priority actions contained in the Government Projections to correct distortions and boost the economy during 2024.
The budgetary results showed, at the end of October, a deficit of 29,717 million pesos, which represents 20 percent of the deficit planned for the current year, and 39.6 percent of what was foreseen for the date, assured the Minister of Finance and Prices, Vladimir Regueiro.
The official pointed out that a positive balance of 19 billion pesos was recorded in the current account, an extraordinary behavior which is associated to the recovery shown by this indicator in previous months.
Another of the topics evaluated was the behavior of the economy at the end of October, on which the Minister of Economy and Planning, Joaquín Alonso, detailed several indicators whose results ratify the complexities that the country is currently facing.
Among them are imports of goods, foreign currency income from exports, energy carriers, and cargo and passenger transportation, he said.
In this sense, he referred to the decreasing trend of inflation, both in the monthly and year-on-year index, as well as the reduction of the fiscal deficit, the behavior of the current account and the indicators of the monetary circulation that are gradually advancing towards the expected result.
